We offer privately guided rock climbing and rappelling trips for novices through experts, throughout the Southwest desert and the mountains of the West. Trips are available daily - you may choose to climb with us for just a few hours, for a half day, or for several days. We also offer specific course curriculum that can be tailored to your goals. We accommodate individuals and groups and will provide all required equipment. Let's go climbing!
Southwest Climbing and Adventures works in the following locations listed below. Permits are held by both the Certified Guides Cooperative and partner companies.
Arizona offers year-round climbing in the high and low deserts, outside Tucson, Phoenix, and Prescott. These areas offer great options for new climbers, those looking to improve on skills, and other adventures like rappelling. Some of the best scenic views can be found in the Granite Dells in Prescott, the McDowell Mountains in Phoenix, and Cochise Stronghold in Tucson. Trip options throughout Arizona include a two hour fun climb, half days, or full days.
The climbing in Indian Creek, outside of Moab is stunning. Join us for a few days of sandstone crack climbing, with vast views of canyonlands, red rocks, the sagebrush desert, and tall desert towers. Single and multi-pitch options for all levels of climbers, with some of the shortest approaches in the Southwest. Take your pick of easy camping options or comfortable hotel stays in town. Trips to Indian Creek require a minimum two-day booking.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers a different (and we think better!) kind of adventure than the nearby Las Vegas strip. There are thousands of routes spread throughout the beautiful canyons, and there is truly something for everyone - from bouldering to single-pitch routes to long, involved, advanced routes. The approach hikes will take you through cool sandstone formations with waterfalls and ancient petroglyphs, and you might even see some burros! Trip options include full days and extreme days (10 - 12 hour days).
California has the largest concentration of 5-star routes, and many of them can be found in Joshua Tree National Park. Some of our favorite climbs include The Swift (5.7), Right On (5.5), The Illusion Dweller (5.10), and Figures on a Landscape (5.10). The Joshua Tree landscape is composed of the iconic desert trees, monolithic, granite boulders, and unique wildlife like the reclusive desert tortoise. Trips to Joshua Tree require a minimum two-day booking.
The cost of your trip includes climbing gear (with a helmet, harness, and rock shoes for each person), permits, entrance fees, and guide wages. Discounts are available for multiple trip bookings and referrals. Meals can be provided for an additional cost. Your travel to and from the location and accommodations are not included.
