Southwest Climbing offers privately guided rock climbing trips and courses, and rappelling adventures, for groups and individuals. Trips are open to everyone, from first time climbers to aspiring professional guides. AMGA SPI Course and Assessment

Are you interested in climbing instruction or guiding as a profession? We are now offering the AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Certification Program, the only recognized single pitch instructor program in the US and worldwide. The course and exam are for current, active rock climbers that are excited about teaching climbing to novices in a single pitch setting.

About Southwest Climbing

Trips and courses are led by owner Ben Traxler, a Certified Rock Guide through the American Mountain Guide's Association. The AMGA is the only internationally recognized professional association of trained and certified Guides and Climbing Instructors in the United States, and the Rock Guide is the highest certification offered in climbing.

The American Mountain Guides Association is the United State’s sole representative to the International Federation of Mountain Guides Association, the governing body responsible for guiding standards and education.

The Certified Guides Cooperative is a guide-owned, co-op that provides services to AMGA Certified Guides. The CGC provides permit access and requisite insurance for guides to work in specific permit-held climbing areas.

The Access Fund is the national advocacy organization that keeps U.S. climbing areas open and conserves the climbing environment. They support over 2.3 million mountaineering, rock and ice climbers.

Southwest Climbing practices Leave No Trace outdoor ethics, which teaches people to enjoy outdoor activities responsibly. Ben holds certification at the Master Educator level.
